Gallbladder Surgery
Gallbladder removal, also known as cholecystectomy, is one of the most common procedures in the United States with more than 1.2 million cholecystectomies done annually. Our surgeons have performed thousands of these procedures with excellent outcomes. Minimally invasive cholecystectomy is now offered in the outpatient surgery center setting with minimal downtime after surgery.

On rare occasions, an “open approach” is used which involves using a single, larger incision to access the gallbladder. However, removal is most commonly performed through a laparoscopic or robotic approach. In most cases, you will be able to go home the same day of surgery.
Your surgeon will discuss these options with you during your consultation and will address any questions you may have at that time.
